Quick Take: SHAMELESS Season 3

When we last left our friends the Gallaghers, things were in as good a place as it gets for them.  Fiona knows Jimmy’s secret, and is okay with it.  Karen is gone and Lip is kind of okay with it.  Mickey is gone and Ian’s having fun with Jimmy’s dad, Sheila and Jody saved baby Hymie from the system, and Frank is “gone” and no one seems to notice.  When Season 3 starts up tonight (9/8c on Showtime), things are

Quick Take: Courtney K preps you for the return of SCANDAL

I’m just going to say it; SCANDAL is one of the BEST shows on television. It just is. If you haven’t been watching, you need to pay whatever you must to get whatever streaming service available to you and CATCH. UP. Tonight, we finally get to move forward from the nail-biting cliff hanger the people of SCANDAL gave us last year. The assassination attempt, the manhunt, the power grab by the conniving yet somehow maybe clueless Vice President, there have

CK Quicktake: BUNHEADS is FINALLY back!

FINALLY!! After the most gut-wrenching first season finale ever, BUNHEADS is back on ABCFamily!! With the mishap at The Nutcracker recital (I mean seriously, mace-ing the dancers? It doesn’t get more shenanigan-y than that.) and the forced dismissal of Michele, how does a show recover from that?? With grace, style, and fast talkin’, that’s how! The song of my people, as written by Amy Sherman-Palladino, and sung by a cast that is quirky and eloquent and so incredibly talented it’s

Quick Take: CHICAGO FIRE has hot bodies and not much else

Tonight on NBC, after an all new episode of SVU, Taylor Kinney and Jesse Spencer star in CHICAGO FIRE.  The show, set (and filmed) in Chicago, follows the firefighters on the truck (lead by Spencer) and the firefighters on the rescue squad (lead by Kinney), who are at odds after a bad situation at the impressive fire we see in the opening act.  Eamonn Walker is their chief trying to bring the competing sides back together; Lauren German and Monica

Quick Take: BOB’S BURGERS is back!!

Tonight on FOX, between all new episodes of THE SIMPSONS and FAMILY GUY, be sure to check out one of my favorites – BOB’S BURGERS.  In tonight’s season premiere, a gang of bikers named the One Eyed Snakes arrive in town to attend the funeral of their leader Horny Dave.  Along the way, they end up befriending the Belchers, stopping (and starting) a bar fight (or two), scaring a mean kid, and bring everyone together over the wonders of childbirth.

Quick Take: PERSON OF INTEREST Season 2 brings more of the same, and that’s just fine with me!

When we left PERSON OF INTEREST at the end of its first season run, week by week, the danger of using the Machine and everything involved had begun to catch up on our heroes, and then, before you knew it, Finch was kidnapped at gunpoint by Amy Acker (playing the fantastic villain Root; she reprises her role in the premiere and throughout the second season).  When the show comes back tonight after a summer away, Reese is doing everything he

Quick Take: VEGAS is a show my dad will love….and that’s not a bad thing!

Tonight on CBS, check out the series premiere of VEGAS, the story about Ralph Lamb, a real man who became sheriff of Las Vegas back in the 60s. Lamb, played by Dennis Quaid, is a cowboy who reluctantly takes the reins, opposite mobster Johnny Savino, played by Michael Chiklis (so much better served here than he was on NO ORDINARY FAMILY). A period piece featuring a cast of familiar faces like Jason O’Mara (a personal favorite), Taylor Handley, Carrie Ann

Quick Take: Mondays on FOX

The season is starting to kick into gear tonight, after a smattering of premieres over the past two weeks.  Tonight, REVOLUTION airs on NBC, and on FOX, BONES is back (to TV, in town, etc) at 8/7c followed by the series premiere of Jordana Spiro in THE MOB DOCTOR. When we last left our friends at the Jeffersonian, Brennan was on the run after being framed for the murder of her friend by the insufferable Christopher Pelant.  With baby Christine

Quick Take: PARENTHOOD Season 4 cannot be missed!

You know how you’re always looking for a really well-written, well-lit, well-acted, family drama, from the makers of shows like FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS?  Well look no further than PARENTHOOD, returning tonight on NBC at 10/9c.  Season 4 of one of the best shows on TV starts at the end of the summer, as Haddie (Sarah Ramos) prepares for her cross-country journey to Cornell, and the family gathers together to say good-bye.  Ray Romano joins the cast for a few episodes

Quick Take: WEEDS and EPISODES on Showtime

Tonight on Showtime, WEEDS Season 8 (the final premiere) starts at 10/9c, followed by the Season 2 premiere of EPISODES at 10:30/9:30c. When we last left the Botwins and friends, there was a red-dot trained on Nancy’s head, and as we cut to black, a shot rang out.  When Season 8, the final season, starts tonight, we start right where we left off – the identity of the victim is revealed, the fate of the victim is revealed, and in
