UPDATED Upfront Rumblings – News Roundup!

As is always the case on Friday night before the Up Fronts, lots of news of renewals are coming out of LA – First up, and most shocking to me, not because I hate the show anymore, but because I didn’t think the viewership was there – there’s a rumored Season 2 pickup coming for DOLLHOUSE!  Along with the renewal comes some serious cost cutting, according to network sources.  It should be an interesting Monday when FOX has it’s announcement!

PARTY DOWN to continue on STARZ

My other new favorite comedy of the season (along with BETTER OFF TED), PARTY DOWN, will return sometime in 2010 with the second season, Variety reports.  Most of the principal cast members, including Adam Scott, Ken Marino, Lizzy Caplan, Martin Starr, and Ryan Hansen are on board.  Jane Lynch, currently doing great work on GLEE (premiering May 19 on FOX), will have to figure a way to juggle both shows – she’s the only one who hasn’t signed on yet.  From

FLASH FORWARD gets series pickup at ABC

I’m so excited this morning – why? Because after a weekend away that featured next to no TV-related business, I come back to find out that my favorite pilot I’ve read so far was picked up for series by ABC. It should come as no surprise, considering they’ve been running “underground” campaigns for the series during LOST for the last few weeks, but I am happy to hear that officially, FLASH FORWARD (no, not the series from last decade starring Ben

It's Official – BIG BANG and 2.5 MEN get pickups

News out of CBS and Warner Bros Television today is that TWO AND A HALF MEN has been renewed through the 2011-2012 season and THE BIG BANG THEORY has been renewed through the 2010-2011 season!!  This puts 2.5 MEN going through to a 9th season, and TBBT going through at least its 4th. I for one am thrilled for THE BIG BANG THEORY.  That’s quickly risen to the top of my favorites list.  Never watched TWO AND A HALF MEN –

SAMCRO's newest nightmare: Henry Rollins

Fans of FX’s SONS OF ANARCHY have even more to celebrate now that music man Henry Rollins has been cast in a guest starring role for 6 of the show’s 13 second season episodes!  Says Executive VP of Original Programming Nick Grad, “Henry will bring his intensity and muscularity to this complex part.  We look forward to seeing him inhabit this role.” Me too!  Read after the jump for the full press release about the show, which statesa a “fall”

Jay Leno to get 10PM show on NBC?

Rumors are swirling that NBC is *this close* to signing a deal with Jay Leno for a 10PM nightly interview show.  From the sounds of it, this is expected to be almost a replica of his current late night show, airing at 11:35 every weekday.  What does that mean for the current NBC landscape, in light of the various layoffs that we heard about today?  That eliminates 5 hours of programming every week!  While some people might cry foul on

CAPRICA gets series order

For those of us struggling to accept the fact that BATTLESTAR GALACTICA is ending in a few months, there is some respite in the fact that Sci Fi has finally given that series order to CAPRICA, the prequel we’ve all heard so much a little bit about. According to Variety, the series will now bow in early 2010.  CAPRICA stars Eric Stoltz, Esai Morales, Paula Malcolmson, and Polly Walker.  Set 50 years before the Cylon attacks on BSG, it focuses

ABC not picking up PUSHING DAISIES, DIRTY SEXY MONEY, or ELI STONE

I was a bit too sad to talk about this yet yesterday afternoon when I heard the news that, officially, the “back-9 options” for 3 of ABC’s most interesting and well done shows were not picked up.  Yes, folks, we will only get 13 episodes of PUSHING DAISIES, DIRTY SEXY MONEY, and ELI STONE this season.  That is, if we see them all.  And that’s not to say I didn’t see this coming, but still.  It sucks, because they are
