MIDNIGHT, TEXAS at SDCC 2017: Monica Owusu-Breen & David Janollari on cliffhangers, meaningless death, and writing a complete story

At San Diego Comic Con last week, we had the chance to spend time chatting with the creators/EPs of NBC’s MIDNIGHT, TEXAS, Monica Owusu-Breen & David Janollari. Over the course of our quick chat, Monica and David talked about cliffhangers (and avoiding them), killing characters for the sake of killing characters (in short? HARD PASS), and how to create a story that’s longer than 3 seasons from a book trilogy with a finite end. Check it out in the video

PEOPLE OF EARTH at SDCC 2017: Creator David Jenkins on creating and evolving the show

While in San Diego for Comic Con 2017, I had the opportunity to spend some time chatting with the stars and creator of TBS’ PEOPLE OF EARTH, which starts Season 2 with an amazing new episode July 24 at 10:30/9:30PM Central. In addition to spending time talking with the hilarious cast of PEOPLE OF EARTH in San Diego, Jason and I got to pick the brain of the show’s creator, David Jenkins.  We touched on creating and evolving the show,

PEOPLE OF EARTH at SDCC 2017: Oscar Nuñez and Ana Gasteyer on “tragicomedy”

While in San Diego for Comic Con 2017, I had the opportunity to spend some time chatting with the stars and creator of TBS’ PEOPLE OF EARTH, which starts Season 2 with an amazing new episode July 24 at 10:30/9:30PM Central. Ana Gasteyer and Oscar Nuñez have been known over the years for their wildly funny performances on SNL, THE OFFICE, SUBURGATORY, etc. In PEOPLE OF EARTH season 2, while they continue to mine for comedy gold, the emotions of

PEOPLE OF EARTH at SDCC 2017: Nasim Pedrad and Björn Gustafsson preview Season 2

While in San Diego for Comic Con 2017, I had the opportunity to spend some time chatting with the stars and creator of TBS’ PEOPLE OF EARTH, which starts Season 2 with an amazing new episode July 24 at 10:30/9:30PM Central. In the first of four video interviews, new cast member Nasim Pedrad (special agent Alex Foster) and Björn Gustafsson (Don the White) joined me and my camera man Jason to talk about everything (but also nothing) related to the

Julie Ann Emery talks PREACHER and Lara Featherstone

PREACHER’s second season has gotten off to a wild start, as Jesse and the gang continue their mission to find God, running across the Saint of Killers along the way.  The show is slowly introducing more characters from the comic book series, Herr Starr (leader of the Grail, played by Pip Torrens) and Lara Featherstone (one of the Grail’s best operatives) chief among them.  Featherstone is brought to life this season by MToT fave Julie Ann Emery, who previously recurred

FARGO’s Olivia Sandoval on Winnie & Gloria, mid-western nice, and an exciting S3 finale

Navigating the “mid-western nice” of FARGO was new territory for Olivia Sandoval, the newcomer who has given life and incredible depth to beat-cop Winnie Lopez over the course of this stellar third season. As the show narrowed in on figuring out the mystery that was front and center, it has given audiences an authentic female friendship that is worth rooting for in Sandoval’s Lopez and Carrie Coon’s phenomenal Gloria Burgle. In a call to preview the finale, Sandoval told me

WRECKED’s Ally Maki on Season 2: Jess, Todd, and The Barracuda

I’ve said it once; I’ll say it a million times – over the last year or so, TBS came out of the gate firing on all cylinders, premiering 5 of the funniest comedies on TV in shows like ANGIE TRIBECA, THE DETOUR, SEARCH PARTY, PEOPLE OF EARTH, and WRECKED, which returns tonight with all new episodes (10/9c with back to back eps for S2). Ally Maki plays Jess Kato, a survivor of a plane crash that stranded a wildly diverse

Luke Cosgrove previews THE MIST: “It looks phenomenal!”

THE MIST, a new series that actor Luke Cosgrove tells me is “like a cousin” to the book and movie of the same name by Stephen King, premieres June 22 (10/9c) on SpikeTV. As the show explores the fear that the townspeople feel in the face of THE MIST, it sounds like we’ll be on the edges of our seats (and maybe jumping out of them with fright) each week. Cosgrove plays Jake, the Sheriff’s son, the big man on

Previewing TNT’s CLAWS with Evan Daigle

Evan Daigle may not yet be a face you recognize – but the Louisiana native, who only realized in the past few years that his calling was to be an actor, turns in a great debut performance in TNT’s CLAWS. A newcomer working among small screen royalty in Dean Norris and Niecy Nash, Evan told me on a call this week to discuss his show, that “when people ask…what’s your favorite part of the experience, definitely 100% getting the opportunity
