Ultimately, SPEECHLESS is what ABC has been doing best, and what they’ve cultivated into back to back nights of 2 hours of family comedy: telling a story about a faction of the population that we might not know a lot about, and showing how they support each other, fight battles for each other, and come together as a family at the end of the day.
FOX took two big swings this Fall (three if you count PITCH….baseball humor), adapting two very well known commodities and turning them into surprisingly entertaining send-ups of their original source material. LETHAL WEAPON is worth a first or second look.
DESIGNATED SURVIVOR – As I watched, I found myself less interested in who exactly executed the attack and more interested in how the characters and relationships are going to shift and change as a direct result.
Every now and then, running My Take on TV takes me down a weird avenue that I never anticipated, which is how I came to get on the phone with Johnny McDevitt, one of the charismatic, no-nonsense chefs competing for the Season 16 prize on HELL’s KITCHEN. He’s not just another reality cooking show chef; Johnny happens to be someone I’ve known for two decades.
BULL – It’s not going to win any awards, nor is it doing anything that we haven’t seen before. Unlike other new shows this season, however, you won’t feel dumber for having watched.
At the end of LUCIFER’s Season 2 premiere, after Luci spent the episode looking for dear old escaped-from-Hell Mummy, assuming she was sending him message after message about the havoc she intends to rain down on him, a battered Tricia Helfer crawled into his loft and collapsed in his arms. I spent some time with Tricia, talking about joining the show, working with this cast, and where Mom’s head might be.
THIS IS US – You are likely to cry, you are likely to feel for these characters right away, and you are likely to want to set your series recording to see just what happens next.
GOTHAM is funny, sarcastic, and dark; the show wastes no time getting to the heart of what promises to be an exciting season. LUCIFER looks to be going above and beyond, ranking it HIGH on the list of must sees!

FLEABAG, created by and starring the incomparable Phoebe Waller-Bridge (BROADCHURCH), follows the titular heroine as she talks to the camera, clues you in on the workings of her mind, and weaves a perfect look into the exhausting life of being a modern woman, plus all that comes along.
