David Lim on the action, heart, and humanity of TV’s S.W.A.T.

First a TV show (1975) and then a movie starring Colin Farrell (2003), CBS’ reboot of S.W.A.T. (premiering tonight at 10/9c) finds inspiration from the past while forging ahead with its own identity.  From Shawn Ryan and Aaron Thomas, with a pilot directed by Justin Lin, S.W.A.T. centers around “a locally born and bred S.W.A.T. sergeant who’s torn between loyalty to the streets and duty to his fellow officers when he’s tasked to run a specialized tactical unit that is

Tricia Helfer previews Charlotte’s return to LUCIFER

When we last saw Tricia Helfer’s Charlotte on LUCIFER, the spirit of Mom had been sent into the void and the ball-busting lawyer was left battered and confused. Though she’s been gone for the first few episodes of the season, Charlotte makes her return to the LUCIFER fold in Monday’s all new episode, “Welcome Back, Charlotte Richards.” I spent some time chatting with Tricia about what’s coming up for Charlotte, the impact it has on the team, and what it’s

RIVERDALE video: Josie & The Pussycats are back in action!

In tonight’s all new episode of RIVERDALE (8/7c on The CW), an effort to save Pop’s Chok’lit Shoppe in the aftermath of Fred’s shooting finds Josie teaming up with an unlikely third member to perform an all new version of Kelis’ hit song “Milkshake.” Check out the video of their performance! RIVERDALE’s can’t-miss second season airs Wednesdays at 8/7c this Fall on The CW.

A chat about THIS IS US with teenage Kate, HANNAH ZEILE

THIS IS US, that little show that you may have heard of, is proving Season 1’s breakout success was no fluke. Ratings are consistent or rising every week, fans on social media can’t stop talking about it, and I’m sure the tissue makers of the world are happy to see sales on the rise. Tonight’s all new episode (9/8c) finds Kate facing her first big gig and I spent some time talking with Hannah Zeile, THIS IS US’ teenage Kate,

Chatting about THE EXORCIST with Alex Barima

THE EXORCIST is one of those shows that surprises me – not just because I never know what’s coming, but because I never expected to be such a fan of something I need to watch with all of the lights on, at the brightest part of the day, in order to sleep at night.  The show, airing on FOX Fridays at 9/8c, has taken it on the road in Season 2, with former-Father Marcus Keane (Ben Daniels) and Father Tomas

Quick Take: VALOR on The CW

I applaud The CW for doing what they can to step out of their comfort zone with VALOR, which premieres tonight at 9/8c after SUPERGIRL. VALOR is show about a bad-ass fighter pilot who happens to be a woman (Nora Madani, played with no emotion by Christina Ochoa), who covered up something bad on her most recent mission involving fellow returnee Leland Gallo (CW-casting-director-fave Matt Barr) and their missing colleague.  The show wants to have it all: mystery, danger, clandestine

My Take On….ABC’s KEVIN (PROBABLY) SAVES THE WORLD

Absurd and too-long title notwithstanding, I love everything about KEVIN (PROBABLY) SAVES THE WORLD.  If there was any actor that should interact with an imaginary possible-angel when his family already thinks he’s insane, Jason Ritter is the guy for the job and ABC’s new show, premiering at 10/9c is the show for me. KEVIN is the story of Kevin Finn (Ritter), an admittedly selfish and sometimes crappy person, fresh off of what we learn was a bit of a breakdown.
