After-Take: TIMELESS “The Alamo”
Name of the Episode: “The Alamo”
In the opening scene we see Colonel William Barrett Travis penning his iconic letter to help inspire hope to Texas. Rufus tells Mason about his encounter with Writtenhouse and he’s furious that his family was threatened. Mason denies any knowledge about the threats but there are bigger problems. Since Wyatt has not killed Flynn, the company wants to bring in another soldier to get the job done.
However, the team sees Flynn has jumped to San Antonio for the Alamo fight. Looks like Wyatt gets one more mission before his dismissal. Flynn sneaks into General Santa Ana’s camp to offer assistance to end the rebel camp. Wyatt is extremely focused on finding Flynn while Rufus and Lucy are in awe of whom they’re seeing. It’s not everyday you see Davey Crockett telling a story about surviving a bear attack.
While they are canvassing the area, Wyatt begins to have flashbacks from when he was on tour with his military team. Flynn goes into the office of Colonel Travis and shoots him before finishing his famous victory letter. Flynn has also convinced General Santa Ana to move up the attack earlier. Santa Ana goes against the original plan and traps the women and children instead of letting them go.
Wyatt is growing incredibly frustrated and keeps trying to warn everyone they’ll all die soon. Rufus is tasked with finding a way to save everyone from peril; Lucy tries to finish the Colonel’s letter to keep history intact. She is having writers block but can’t finish the letter because the Alamo comes under attack from canon fire. Once the attack stops, Rufus continues to fight for a way to save the women and children. Wyatt reminisces about how he escaped a firefight because of a coin flip. He still feels guilty about leaving his men to die at war; but maybe this time he can make a difference. Lucy finishes the letter and the Spanish prepare their weapons to attack. These brave men grab their weapons and fight for their independence.
Inside, Rufus uses grenades to open up the aqueduct to save the civilians. Wyatt keeps having flashbacks of the Army and he refuses to leave good men to die once again. Thankfully, Lucy is able to convince Wyatt he is still needed for the team, and they all escape the Alamo alive. Once back at headquarters, history remained the same but Wyatt is still to be reassigned. Lucy and Rufus refuse to work with anyone else besides Wyatt; their voices are heard and the team stays the same. At the end of the episode, Lucy is home; her mother reveals what happened with Lucy’s father. He is a professor and once he found out he would be a father, he offered to marry Lucy’s mother, but she declined. Although she has not heard from him since, she gives Lucy his name to seek him out to find her answers.
On the next episode, travel back to the 1970s. Flynn is trying to change the events of Nixon’s Watergate scandal. How far will Lucy go to save Wyatt? Will she sacrifice the course of history to save him? Find out next week when Timeless continues!
