After-Take: CHICAGO PD “All Cylinders Firing”
Name of the Episode: “All Cylinders Firing”
Platt is visiting her father for drinks and giving some loving advice. She had a long walk to her car and she was attacked from behind. She tries to fight back but the man beats her until she can hardly move. Luckily, she is able to hit the car alarm and the neighbors chased off the abuser. Unfortunately, he also took her gun when he ran off. Platt is carted off to Med where everyone is all hands on deck. Mouch is worried and angry about not knowing how Trudy is doing; and so far there are no leads on the assailant. Voight does not think the attack was random because Platt had many complaints among criminals at the district.
A lead proves useful as it points to Platt helping a local liquor store with security before visiting her father. Olinsky, Atwater and Ruzeck make the discovery Trudy’s father has been shot dead in his home. There is no obvious connection between the attacks, but they won’t know more until Trudy makes it out of surgery. Dr. Rhodes gives good news to the detectives that Trudy will make a full recovery. Sadly, Lindsay and Halstead have to deliver the news that Trudy’s father has passed away. Trudy felt her dad’s new girlfriend, Natalie Curn was only interested in his money. (truth is, he didn’t have any, he only fronted as if he did). However, her ex-boyfriend Leonard Millwood, is the real criminal. Neither of the suspects confessed to any kills, just stealing various items. However, it seems Robert was richer than he was letting on. In the past six months, he had been transferring all of his assets and interests to Trudy. Olinsky follows a lead to a hidden camera that caught a vintage car that matched a witness’ description.
Wade McGregor is the owner of the rare Mustang fastback the team is looking for. He put in money and time into Robert’s financials. When Wade lost his money, Trudy gave an anonymous tip to catch McGregor to put him away for drug trafficking. All along, she didn’t give up any names or give any clues to the team. However, Kim accidently gave a few details to Trudy that tipped her off. Trudy ditched her security detail and left the hospital without anyone knowing.
Trudy goes to her dad’s office and gets McGregor’s info, along with a gun and a shovel. She tracks Wade to his house and orders him to put on a pair of handcuffs while she points the gun at him. Trudy wants to know what her father’s last words were; she strapped Wade to a chair and begins to beat him. Voight finds Wade in the basement, but needs to talk her down from killing Wade. He knows she’s a better person and he won’t let her go through with it.
At the end of the episode, Wade is booked and Trudy is sent back to Med to rest. Mouch is right by Trudy’s side and is thankful she is okay; he was so close to losing her. Their love story is one for the ages.
Next week: family massacres are happening around the city. The intelligence team works around the clock to prevent the next killings.
