THE BIG BANG THEORY Reaches 200th Episode Milestone
Thursday, February 25 is officially “The Big Bang Theory Day,” as announced by the City of Pasadena at a celebration gathering over the weekend. And its only fitting, since the series has claimed Pasadena as its world since its September 24, 2007 debut.
The gathering of series stars Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Mayim Bialik, and Melissa Rauch, along with Executive Producers/Co-Creators Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, as well as EP/Showrunner Steven Molaro made the announcement by Pasadena Councilmember Andy Wilson (on behalf of Mayor Terry Tornek) even more special.
The three Big Bang EP’s reciprocated with a statement of their own, “For 200 episodes, The Big Bang Theory has called Pasadena home. Even though we tape the show just down the road at Warner Brothers, we’re honored that the City of Pasadena, which has given so much to our characters and our stories, has once again proven itself to be a true inspiration.”
And the series, currently the number one comedy on television, has naturally drawn thousands of tourists to the City.
The official Proclamation read that The Big Bang Theory producers, cast, and crew “have portrayed the City of Pasadena as not only a city of advanced education and pop culture sophistication but also home to the occasional unexpected ‘Bazinga!’ to countless viewers worldwide.”
The City of Pasadena didn’t stop there, however! Just today, it was announced that the show has officially gotten their own street name! Pasadena Councilmember Andy Wilson said, “The City of Pasadena is proud of its comedic and scientific association with The Big Bang Theory. Pasadena was already known throughout the world for having the foremost astronomers, chemists and scientific thinkers who do very serious work here, but thanks to [TBBT], being smart in Pasadenia is now fun, too.” The sign for their street, named “Big Bang Theory Alley,” will be installed in the coming weeks near Pasadena City Hall!
Tonight’s milestone episode, “The Celebration Experimentation,” casts special guests Christine Baranski, Sara Gilbert, Wil Wheaton, and Batman himself, Adam West, to celebrate Sheldon’s birthday. The episode airs Thursday, February 25, at 8/7c on CBS.
