Beware – the follow contains spoilers!!!
At the end of last week’s episode, Trubel was seen at Nick’s apartment bloodied and bruised. Adalind sees what is going on through the security cameras and rushes down to the garage. Nick speeds off to take Trubel to the hospital. Doctors see Trubel is wearing body armor and take it off to asses the damage done. Meanwhile a group of rowdy young men go to a junkyard seeking some wesen fun and games. They reveal themselves to be Klaustreich (feline wesen) harassing Reinigen (rodent wesen). The fun stops when a twenty-foot shadow appears. Only one of the boys is able to run away from the screams in the night.
Nick tries patiently to wait for Trubel’s results, but to no avail. He starts to look into her jacket pockets and discovers she has multiple identification cards and various forms of currency. Back at the house, Nick left Chavez’s phone and Adalind answers the call. She discovers Misner is the mystery caller, but he hangs up before she can find out anything. Just then, the doctor reassures Nick Trubel will be okay. Her head scan did not show any injuries. But the doctor wants to keep her under observation for 24 hours; Trubel discloses her name as one of her alias’, Lauren Cole.
Nick brings in the motorcycle Trubel came in on, and has Wu search the license plate to find out where it came from. Wu pulls the results as Lauren Cole and her address is listed in Portland; Nick advises Wu takes Hank to check out the apartment, on their off time. Nick checks out the motorcycle to find it has a few hidden weapon surprises attached. Unfortunately for Trubel, being in the hospital is not he safest place for her to be. One of the nurses to her care wakes up Trubel to determine if she is the Grimm, the rebellion is searching for. Once confirmed, the nurse makes a call to an unnamed source.
Before they can talk more with Trubel, Nick and Hank are called to the case. They come to the scene with two men mauled and left in a cornfield. Chester and Robert were the men murdered, but their friend Johnny has not been found. Captain Renard’s friend Andrew Dixon is running for mayor and would like an endorsement from the Police Department. Dixon’s motivation for the endorsement is to help Renard become Chief of the department one day.
Johnny finds Robert’s girlfriend Selina and asks to hide out at her house. More bad news follows Trubel as her doctor and nurse conspire to keep Nick away from her; but her newest cat scan shows she has brain swelling and will need immediate surgery. Nick and Hank tell Rosalee and Monroe about their cat and mouse conspiracy; and briefly touch on Trubel’s hospital stay. But when Selina calls Nick panicked, saying the Reinigen group has found her and Johnny. The group goes to the junkyard to find the rest of the Reinigen clan. Johnny is killed, but they spared Selina for the moment, once rescued and back to the fresh air; the Reinigen say they only killed those boys because their prince was killed and they deserved revenge. In that moment, they band together to form the legend, the Rat King.
Selina woges so the rat will smell her scent, and lures the rat to the power wires. Hank is able to shoot the transformer, put the rat into shock, and put them down. The day seems to be saved, until Misner shows up at Nick’s apartment. Adalind sees him on the camera and lets him in. He asks to see Trubel because her life is in danger; but they all rush to the hospital to see who’s after Trubel. Nick seems to be late as he sees her hospital bed is empty. Misner and Nick met in the basement as the doctors try to sneak Trubel out of the building. Nick brings Trubel back to the apartment as she regains consciousness. But Nick is more interested in who Misner is and asks Adalind to tell him everything she knows.
On next week’s episode, Grimm has the fall finale, you will not want to miss. Trubel warns of a world war stemming from the wesen army. Who will triumph in this battle of good vs. wesen?
