DVD Review: MAJOR CRIMES The Complete Third Season
MAJOR CRIMES S3 was released on May 26 and the MToT has spent time catching up with the gang. Check out our quick thoughts:
Television’s favorite squad of detectives is back on the case in the thrilling third season of Major Crimes when Warner Bros. Home Entertainment (WBHE) releases Major Crimes: The Complete Third Season on DVD May 26, 2015 for $59.98 SRP. The release features all 19 of the series’ season three episodes plus never-before-seen unaired scenes and gag reel!
What’s on the back: “As Major Crimes enters its third electrifying season, Captain Sharon Raydor (Academy Award® nominee Mary McDonnell) continues to lead her elite team of investigators in pursuit of L.A.’s most dangerous criminal offenders and make tough, provocative deals to ensure these perpetrators do the hard time they deserve. Plus, her unpredictable, estranged husband Jack (Tom Berenger) reappears, and her pending adoption of Rusty brings up difficult issues. The squad continues to dive into captivating cases which run the gamut from the revenge killing of a serial rapist brutally slain in his own apartment and a drive-by shooting that could be the first shot in a city-wide gang war to the pet dog “murdered” to prevent it from inheriting a 20 million dollar fortune and the re-emergence of the brilliantly twisted killer Phillip Stroh (Billy Burke). But be assured, from start to finish, the Major Crimes team performs at the top of their game in a season filled with the streetwise tactics and emotionally charged action that make Major Crimes a must-see series year after year.”
What we think: The team is at its best when it is fueled by a personal stake in the case – everything surrounding the anticipated arrival and subsequent return of Strogh is some of TV’s best work. I love the relationship between Sharon and Rusty, and the surprise relationship we’re getting out of Sharon and Andy as the seasons progress. Always a show I’m willing to watch multiple times, getting through the DVD set of all 19 episodes was a breeze. We’re pumped for Season 4, starting June 8, at 9/8c on TNT!
