Quick Take: MASTERCHEF JUNIOR on FOX
Tonight at 8/7c on FOX, the all new cooking competition series MASTERCHEF JUNIOR premieres. Back again are Gordon Ramsay, Joe Bastianich, and Graham Elliot, but this time around, the competitors are a bunch of excited little kids, some with self-described sophisticated palates, and a seemingly endless knowledge of how to cook. The show follows the same format as the mothership – home cooks competing for the prize and the trophy (the kids care a bit more about the trophy than any winnings), and we’re not talking macaroni and cheese or a boiled hotdog. In the first hour alone these kids, ages ranging from 8 (aw little guy) to 13, display their prowess with seafood, pasta, and dessert, which results in some extremely sophisticated results: the best French macarons Gordon’s tasted on MASTERCHEF, a pumpkin ravioli with alfredo sauce, lava cakes, white wine and garlic sauces, you name it, they made it.
In short, it’ll be fun to watch these kids dive in and make food that I literally could only dream about perfecting (seriously, I’ll just be over here, weeping over the fact that I couldn’t even make a decent tasting grilled cheese when I was 8), but it’s going to be ROUGH watching them be told they aren’t moving forward. Check it out and let us know what you think!
