DVD Review: UNFORGETTABLE S1 from CBS on DVD today!
The show that didn’t make it past a first season, but then also, miraculously made it to a second season which premieres July 28, UNFORGETTABLE Season 1 is available on DVD today, July 9. The DVD box tells us what the first season is all about: “SHE CAN DO ANYTHING BUT FORGET. For most people. memories – both good and bad – fade over the course of time. Not so with Carrie Wells (Poppy Montgomery). She possesses a rare condition – a flawless memory that enables her to remember every place, every conversation, every moment of joy, and every heartbreak in her life. However, the one set of details that remains hazy in her mind involves the long-ao murder of her sister. But when Carrie is unexpectedly given the chance to partner up with her ex-boyfriend, NYPD Detective Al Burns (Dylan Walsh), to consult on a homicide case, she decides to tjoin his team of homicide-solving detectives – and perhaps reawaken recollections of the unsolved murder of her own beloved sibling. The compelling, evocative and edge-of-your-seat mind games begin with this premiere season of UNFORGETTABLE, featuring all 22 season on episodes in a six-disc DVD collection. It’s a crime-drama series you won’t forget!”
Tell me the details!!
Episodes Included:
- All 22 episodes of Season 1 (15hrs, 30 min run time)
- Aspect ratio: 16×9
- Audio: English 5.1, English stereo
- English SDH
Special Features:
- Deleted Scenes – Discs 1, 2, and 4 include deleted scenes from one of the 3-4 episodes featured on each disc. They don’t add too much, and in most cases, I understand why they were cut before airing, but some of them are definitely interesting for an added look at specific episodes.
- Gag Reel – Disc 6 contains a gag-reel of flubbed lines, and momentary scene breaks. Cast seems to have fun with each other!
- Audio Commentary – the set features Audio Commentary on the “Pilot” (Disc 1) and “The Man In The Woods” (Disc 6) with Ed Redlich and John Bellucci. It’s always nice to get some creator input on the show.
- Keeping it Memorable: Cast & Crew of UNFORGETTABLE – The cast and crew talk about their characters / roles within the show. We get more feedback from the creators about how the show started / where the idea came from, and Marilu Henner’s role as a consultant.
- UNFORGETTABLE Production Design – A look at what goes into the production design of the show with Vince Peranio, prod. designer. An interesting look into what goes into the planning stages.
- UNFORGETTABLE: The Rememberers – Gives us a little background and story revolving around H(SAM) and those who deal with it, including show consultant Marilu Henner, herself an “H-Sammer.” It’s so interesting to me, and while I struggle a bit to fully believe it, they really make me think about things!
- Launch Promos from CBS – initial promos from the CBS launch in the fall of 2011.
Final thoughts: I enjoy the show, I’m glad it is coming back, and I think that the Montgomery/Walsh chemistry and relationship is great. The show looks beautiful on DVD, and Poppy Montgomery is a great lead. I would definitely say you should pick up Season 1 to get ready for the Season 2 premiere date!
