It feels like forever since we’ve been able to spend time with our favorite detectives and fake detectives in Santa Barbara.  When we last left PSYCH, almost a year ago, the fate of series regular Corbin Bernsen’s character Henry (Shawn’s dad for you newbies) was very much left in the air, after being on the wrong side of a shooting gun!  When the show returns tonight with the stellar premiere, a send up of LETHAL WEAPON called “Santa Barbaratown 2,” we are taken right into the action of trying to figure out exactly what happened to Henry, and where to go from here.  Of course I’m not going to tell you how it all plays out, but just know that it’s hilarious and heartfelt at the same time.  I love the premiere that brings the absurd Chelsea (Arden Myrin) back to the show for a visit and all the body bags you could want, courtesy of Woody (Kurt Fuller).

In the coming weeks, PSYCH follows the scary world of online dating, introduces a new love interest for Gus, tackles the “what comes next” of it all for Shawn and Juliet, and features one of the greatest sing-a-longs in the show’s history, in the woods, in James Roday’s latest masterpiece (episode 3, one of my favorites that the show has EVER done).  Though the show is in its 7th season that will soon find us coming up on the 100th episode, it feels as fresh and exciting as ever, and I am just so happy to be back with the gang.
