From the Set: Raul talks PRETTY LITTLE LIARS with Ian Harding
Here we are on the set of PRETTY LITTLE LIARS, ABC Family’s coming of age drama that deals with murder, mystery and mayhem. I took a few minutes and spent some time with the cast and got to know a little bit more about the secrets they are keeping.
So now that A has been revealed, how did this affect your character?
Ian Harding: How does it affect me? I think things have gotten seemingly easier for the time being. Aria and I have started having an adult relationship with adult problems. As opposed to, “Are we going to be outed?” “Who is this person that has been following you for years apparently?” Things are definitely on interesting ground right now. I’d like to say things are better, but we are shooting season three, so obviously not, hahahaha.
Any teasers you can give us for next season?
IH: Tease? I can definitely tease that because our relationship is out in the open now I am interacting with all the other characters. I mean actually have a SCENE, as opposed to just being in my apartment. There is a lot of, I have been seeing a lot of the other actors, let’s just say that. There will definitely be NO MORE Chinese takeout. I also think we are sending a bad message to the kids, hahahaha.
Ian, the show has a big gay fan base, do you hear from any of those gay fans?
IH: I actually do, in fact, Shay and I are going up to GLAAD awards in San Francisco this next weekend. I do hear from them a little bit, but we have gotten a lot of press in that realm. It’s something that I am very proud of with this show. So often you so see Gay and Lesbian characters put into a show for mere titilation, and it’s not the case. The problems that she’s having are real and are not about just “I’M CRAZY and I AM A LESBIAN. She is struggling with who she is and has to face life.
Have you had any interaction with Aria’s parents this season?
I actually have! I have had an interaction. Things are really tense right now, maybe specifically with Byron and I. Ella and I actually have a pretty cool situation that happens and I am going to leave it at that. Her and I are definitely going to have some fun.
PRETTY LITTLE LIARS premieres Tuesday, June 5, at 8/7c on ABC Family.
