Get ready to Pound Some Grape with the Cul-de-Sac Crew on COUGAR TOWN!
It feels like forever since we’ve spent any time with our friends at COUGAR TOWN, the almost-forgotten ABC show that didn’t make the Fall schedule, and then almost didn’t make the Spring schedule. The show finally returns to the network’s schedule tonight, airing at 8:30/7:30c, after an all new episode of hit comedy LAST MAN STANDING. Sure it seems like a time slot that’s more “let’s just put it on the air even if it doesn’t fit” than “this goes well with all other shows on this night,” but I just don’t are any more. I missed my Cul-De-Sac Crew and everything about COUGAR TOWN, so today, I’m celebrating!
Before you curl up tonight, with a bottle of wine and your biggest Big Carl type wine glass, let’s talk about what to expect in the incredibly romantic season premiere. When Jules realizes that Grayson and everybody she’s ever known, let’s be honest, thinks she’s predictable, she goes out of her way to prove to them that she is anything but. Her quest leads everyone to the most romantic scene that the show have ever done, under a forest of toilet paper, in the front yard of a neighborhood house.
While Jules is predictably proving to be unpredictable, Ellie and Andy are dealing with a little issue of their own – a walking, talking, hammer wielding issue named Stan who has turned into a Devil Baby over night. An unfortunate incident with a high heeled shoe has gotten Laurie into some trouble, and Travis is sharing a house, probably a room, and possibly a bed based on the math of it all, with some guys from school, and spending his days Green Screening everything.
The show is back, and as funny and sharp and fast as ever. Jules’ neuroses, Ellie’s attitude, Bobby and Andy’s love for one another – it’s all there. This episode proves as a welcome return for fans of the show who have loved it since it was about Courteney Cox sleeping with 20 year olds and a welcome introduction for folks who haven’t been a fan since day one, but who love this cast and the creators and wants to jump in and see what the fuss is all about. And it sounds like this season, we’re in for another great ride, as tonight’s (spoiler alert stop reading if you don’t want to know) engagement gives way to wedding plans, surprise babies, and Travis, in a helmet, and a stepping crew…. In short, COUGAR TOWN is a welcome addition back to the TV neighborhood, and I hope it sticks around for a good long while!
