Thursday Must Watch: ARCHER on FX
If there’s one show that consistently hits me right in the funny bone, it’s ARCHER on FX. Tonight’s season 2 premiere (and the first 7 episodes of the season, for that matter) is no different as Mallory struggles to find a way to keep ISIS afloat amid money problems, and Archer tries to convince his friends and coworkers that he’s not trying to have sex with a 17 year old German girl. It’s as offensive and crass as you would expect and it’s better for it.
The show pulls no punches, and with jokes coming a mile a minute, you really have to pay attention so you don’t miss anything. By the time the show devolved into a shoot out on jet-skis, I was rolling with laughter. The episodes that follow, which feature the great cast led by H Jon Benjamin and Aisha Tyler, are some of the series’ best. One episode in particular, my favorite of the show so far, focuses on the backstory of how Archer’s manservant Woodhouse (George Coe) came to be with the Archers. It is, in one word, genius.
If you had been a loyal viewer, you’ll be rewarded by tonight’s fantastic season opener. If you hadn’t been watching, there is no time like the present to get caught up and tune in tonight!
