10) “A Little Christmas Queer” Will & Grace

In its’ last season Will & Grace continued to be the funny and heartwarming sitcom we all loved. In this holiday themed episode Jack is busy helping “a little Christmas queer,” also known as Will’s clearly gay nephew Jordan, prepare his big Christmas show for the family. Will attempts to stop the show, believing that his mother will never approve. After all, she never approved of his performances, such as his 1975 Easter show, Everything’s Coming Up Jesus. When his mother proves him wrong, Will can’t take it anymore and lashes out at Marilyn. With some great one-liners and a touching twist of a Christmas message, this episode is a perfect fit for the holiday season.

9) “Forgiveness and Stuff” Gilmore Girls

In this season 1 episode, the dynamic between wayward daughter Lorelei and her parents, Emily and Richard, is put to the test when Richard is sent to the hospital during the Gilmore’s annual Christmas party. Having been banned from the party by Emily, Lorelei relies on her good friend Luke during this time of crisis. The episode has all of that Stars Hollow charm, plus some great early moments for Luke and Lorelei, not to mention the bond between Lorelei and Rory that helped make the show a success.

8 ) “Christmas Party” The Office

During the Dunder Mifflin Christmas party Michael turns a game of Secret Santa into chaos when he is unhappy with Phyllis’s gift for him, a hand-knitted oven mitt. In hopes of getting a new gift, Michael declares that they will now play Yankee Swap and each person is allowed the chance to steal gifts from others.  Since Jim bought Pam a very personal gift that includes a VERY personal message, he is distraught as his gift passes from co-worker to co-worker. This episode highlights the sweet and fun relationship that made millions of viewers fall in love with Jim Halpert and combines all of what is good about The Office.

7) “The One With the Holiday Armadillo” Friends

When Ross is given the chance to spend the holidays with his son, he decides to use the opportunity to educate Ben on the meaning of Hanukkah. When Ben finds out there will be no Santa this year he is heartbroken, believing he must have been bad. Ross rushes out to find a Santa costume two days before Christmas and ends up as “The Holiday Armadillo,” a friend of Santa’s sent to share the message of Hanukkah with Ben. But, just as The Holiday Armadillo gets Ben’s attention, Santa bursts in. Friends is known for their Thanksgiving episodes, but this proves they do just as well at Christmas.

6) “Winter” That 70s Show

That 70s Show has some of my favorite holiday themed episodes, but this season 7 one tops my list. Kelso steals all the Christmas toys meant for charity and all the guys become the over-grown man-children they really are. Meanwhile Kitty tries to regain her position as the Christmas party planner for the Ladies of Point Place (L.O.P.P.s) and Jackie tries to avoid being seated at the S.L.O.P.P.s table (Single Ladies of Point Place).

5) “How Lily Stole Christmas” How I Met Your Mother

When Lily finds out Ted called her a “Grinch” during her and Marshall’s break-up, she refuses to spend Christmas with Ted. Elsewhere, Barney battles sickness, resulting in one of my favorite Barney Stinson lines, “Whenever I start feeling sick, I just stop being sick and be awesome instead.”

4) “Amends” Buffy the Vampire Slayer

In this bittersweet season 3 episode Angel and Buffy deal with the repercussions of Angel’s return. The First Evil is targeting Angel in an attempt to get him to destroy Buffy, but his love is too strong to defeat. Although in the end I am Team Spike, Buffy and Angel are heartbreaking as star-crossed lovers. Oz and Willow also deal with the fallout from her affair with Xander.

3) “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer” Grey’s Anatomy

Widely regarded as its’ best season to date, the 2^nd season of Grey’s Anatomy brought an excellent holiday episode in “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.” Christina and Burke clash over religion, Izzie is heartbroken by Alex’s betrayal but helps him anyway because, “It’s what Jesus would freakin’ do!” and Derek finally admits to Addison that Meredith was more than just a fling. This was absolutely Grey’s at its’ best.

2) “The Best Chrismukkah Ever” The O.C

In the episode that began “Chrismukkah” Seth is forced to choose between Summer and Anna after they realize they both have feelings for him. Ryan must deal with Marissa’s downward spiral and his acclimation to the Cohen family. The O.C. was at its’ best in this, its’ first, season. This episode captured the essence of what made the show great.

1) “An Echolls Family Christmas” Veronica Mars

In the best (and first) season of critical darling, Veronica Mars, “An Echolls Family Christmas” finds Veronica solving “The Case of the Missing Money” when Weevil beats Logan and his buddies at poker, but his winnings are nowhere to be found. (Also resulting in one of the hottest games of ‘strip poker’ I’ve ever seen). When Keith takes on a stalker case for Logan’s parents, father and daughter both end up at the Echolls’ Family Christmas. The chemistry between Logan and Veronica (known to fans as LoVe) is only part of what makes the show so good, but this episode did result in one of my favorite Logan quotes, “Annoy tiny blonde one, annoy like the wind.”
