There’s a lot going on tonight, but don’t miss your chance to check out ABC Family’s latest drama series, the fittingly titled PRETTY LITTLE LIARS (based on the wickedly popular young adult book series), premiering tonight at 8/7c (and at 9/8c and at 10/9c).

The story goes – a long time ago, Aria, Hannah, Spencer, and Emily (Lucy Hale, Ashley Benson, Troian Bellisario, and Shay Mitchell, respectively) used to be friends – they used to share all of their secrets with each other and with the 5th member of their group, Alison.  When Alison goes missing, the band breaks up, so to speak, and the girls head off in different directions.  Cut to a bit of time later, Aria and her family return to the country (her parents are played by Holly Marie Combs and Chad Lowe…who feels old now?), and things are not exactly how they used to be.

Yet, now that everyone’s back in the same place, the girls all start receiving mysterious letters, texts, and emails from “A”, indicating that they aren’t the only ones who know their deepest darkest secrets.  While it scares the girls, it seems like “A” messages could be the very thing that these old friends need to reconnect after months apart.

After watching the very strong pilot episode, I will definitely be tuning in on a weekly basis, just to see what these crazy girls are up to!  There is a very great built in mystery that Sara Shepard created in these books that translates so well to the TV screen; it’s the perfect kind of summer fun that ABCFamily does so well!!  Plus, that Ezra Fitz (Ian Harding), the new High School English teacher with more than just a scholarly interest in one of our secret keepers, is very very cute!
